The Indian Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons is a professional body of Cardio thoracic Surgeons based in India but with honorary members from other countries as well. Meetings and conferences related to the field of Cardio thoracic Surgery were initially held under the auspices of the Associations of Surgeons of India and subsequently as a joint exercise along with the Cardiologists. The first independent meeting of Cardio thoracic Surgeons in India was held in 1988.

The Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh is one of the world’s oldest surgical organisations involved in training, teaching and setting standards of practice for surgeons of all specialties across the world. The European Association of Cardio thoracic Surgeons was founded in 1986. It is a professional body of Cardio thoracic Surgeons primarily in Europe but has over 4000 members from across the world including perfusionists and allied health professionals.
The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation is a multi disciplinary professional organisation dedicated to the care of patients with advanced heart or lung disease with transplantation, or circulatory support systems and devices. It has over 3000 members from 50+ countries.

The Paediatric Cardiac Society of India is a professional body of Paediatricians, Paediatric Cardiologists, Paediatric Cardio thoracic Surgeons and allied health professional based in India. The organisation helps to leverage this synergy among various specialists to deliver high quality paediatric cardiac care in India. The organisation was founded in 1999.

The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Society of India is a professional body of Critical Care Specialists / Anaesthesiologists, Cardio thoracic Surgeons and Physicians based out of Mumbai India that sets out to collate data and set standards for the conduct of ECMO across the country.
